Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, First Lady has made an indelible mark in the world of music and media. She is a true trailblazer, a living legend whose achievements span over four decades. First Lady's remarkable journey has earned her a well-deserved spot in "The Frankie Knuckles Lifetime Achievement DJ Hall of Fame" and she has been ranked #17 on "The Top 30 Black Women in Media" by Radio Facts.
First Lady is not just a DJ; she's a multi-faceted talent with a diverse range of accomplishments. She's an educator, a brand ambassador, and a co-owner of a digital radio station. Her expertise in music programming has earned her prestigious awards, including Billboard, Stellar, and GMA Awards. First Lady's exceptional contributions have even been recognized by the United States Library of Congress, where she's been inducted as one of the ignagural 30 Black Women In Radio.
One of her most significant accomplishments is her role as the FIRST Black Female DJ to introduce House Music to the airwaves of Chicago's commercial radio. She was a pioneering member of the FIRST ALL FEMALE House Music DJ collective known as "The Fantastic Four." Additionally, she made history as the first black female mixer on Chicago radio.
Before she became "First Lady," Khrissie "Hott Mixx" was one of the first females to record a house music record, a groundbreaking achievement recognized by DJ International Records in 1986.
With nearly 40 years of experience in the media and music industry, First Lady has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the business and made her presence felt in the top radio markets of New York and Chicago.
Her influence extends beyond the studio and the DJ booth. First Lady has been associated with numerous prestigious brands and organizations, leaving an indelible mark on the world. Her involvement with organizations like Super Bowl Gospel, St. Jude Children's Hospital, 100 Black Men, Girls Scouts of America, The American Dairy Association, and Amsterdam Dance Music Festival (ADE/GDE) showcases her commitment to making a positive impact.
As CEO and Label Owner of Kreative Kontrol Music, Co-Founder of the LivingHerStory Music Series, and Founder of the non-profit LivingHerStory LLC 501c3, First Lady is dedicated to nurturing talent and giving back to her community.
Her influence extends globally as the Programming Consultant for London-based streaming station SG1 SOUL. In addition, she currently serves as the Program Director, Midday Personality, and Mixer for one of the newest worldwide digital streaming radio stations, JAM98, based in Chicago.
First Lady's impact is not limited to the airwaves; she is also the Director of International Relations for Black Women In Radio, an organization committed to empowering and celebrating black women in the radio industry.
Recently, First Lady and her husband and business partner, DJ pioneer Hugo H., joined forces to create a dynamic husband and wife DJ duo known as "The Love Team." Their music can be enjoyed on JAM98 every Friday night, as well as Thursday and Friday nights on SG1 House and every Saturday night on SG1 Radio, sharing the soulful sound of Chicago with the world.
